A letter from the State Commander…

It’s what we did to earn our eligibility for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It’s what we still do. Every day. And I’m extraordinarily thankful to be apart of it. I am committed to each of you and to the success of our organization. It’s a new year, but our challenges remain. We continue to fight to make sure veterans are treated respectfully and according to their needs, as part of this great nation's debt to all of you.

Alongside your service to veterans, also see to harness the skills you developed during your military career now contribute to the improvement of the communities in which you live. Our nation needs help, and there’s nobody more fit to provide it than a Veteran.

We work better when we work together. Embrace the VFW Auxiliary and our fellow Veteran Service Organizations; their missions complement ours. Competition and rivalry have value, but there’s too much to do to allow parochialism to interfere with fulfilling the needs of our veterans. There is no limit to what we can achieve when nobody cares who gets the credit.

To close, borrowing from my military background, I leave you with the most perfect statement of core values I have ever seen: Integrity First. Service Before Self. Excellence in All We Do.
